Pizza Sauce

A great pizza starts with the tomato sauce! If you have sauce left over after baking your pizzas, freeze it for your next pizza session or use it for a tasty pasta.

Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 yellow onion, halved
  • 1 garlic clove, smashed
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • A pinch of sugar
  • Coarsely ground black pepper
  • A few sprigs of sliced fresh basil
  • 1 can of crushed tomatoes (400 ml)

Directions

  1. Heat the olive oil together with the onion, garlic, salt, sugar, and pepper.
  2. The onion should soften but not brown.
  3. Add the crushed tomatoes and simmer on low heat until the sauce thickens.
